Racist Girl ver. 2: Slow night rolls

The soft drizzle splatters on her dress in a random pattern, which vaguely resembles a rabbit. she notices, but doesn't smile as usual.

Tonight is different as she sits atop the hood of his father's car listening to him ramble on about how awesome the game was tonight. He doesn't notice she sometimes loses focus and continues his excited monologue about the benefits of tight defense.

The night is muggy and rain doesn't make it better. But she doesn't interrupt him, letting him carry on about things she barely registers.

Suddenly he smiles at her, taking her by surprise. She smiles back remembering what attracted her to him in the first place as his face shines through the dimness and drizzle. He holds her close.

She thinks back to the beginning when he would stop by her desk and say hi almost everyday. He would seem to want to say more, but always got awkward and ended up smiling and walking away. She wanted to scream, 'Its simple fool, just ask me out', but she would never do that. It wouldn't be right.

He eventually gets the courage to do it. It doesn't matter that he needed half a bottle of vodka in him, nor the fact she was seeing someone else. It was their time and that was all that did matter.

Strains of Adele's 'Someone like you' pierce the night's silence as someone's radio is turned up a bit. This is apt, she thinks ruefully, sadden at what is about to happen. She realises he doesn't even suspect it and for a minute it puzzles her, but doesn't change anything.

His eyes mirror the sea, his smile the sun and his love - the world. Everything true, but for her it isn't working. She doesn't quite understand this herself, but she knows life is too short to stay in one place for too long. This doesn't only refer towhere you live, but at what stage you are in life.

She moves on again.

He still doesn't know yet, but she wants to give him the night at least. Then its time to pack up the proverbial bag and move onto the next chapter of life. His heart will heal and in time, he'll move on. That's what she would have told herself if she was thinking about that, but to her it is not the most important thing.

Life moves on.
